First Church Service for the Marwari Tribe

“The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light…” (Matthew 4:16, quoting Isaiah 9:2). We know this was fulfilled in the ministry of Jesus, who said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

On the Lord’s Day, September 14, 2025, in the United States, at 2-4 a.m., Teresa and I witnessed something extraordinary in Pakistan. In the middle of the our night, we saw a village—recently ravaged by flooding—experience a great light. We had installed solar panels and repurposed an old building to host our very first service for the Marwari tribal peoples. This place will become a central hub for reaching other nearby villages.

One of the most powerful moments of the evening was when we connected with them via satellite. For the first time in their lives, they saw light come on.

The village is extremely remote—no electricity, no internet. Yet through satellite communication, we were able to speak back and forth from the U.S. to these precious people.

I’m reminded of the words spoken by the prophet Daniel: “Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” (Daniel 12:4). I recently shared this with over 700 pastors in Pakistan. That we can reach remote villages through satellite technology still astonishes me.

I want to thank God’s people who stand with us. I wish I could speak to you face-to-face. What we witnessed was so exciting: an entire village coming to Christ. Many prayed the sinner’s prayer last night for the first time. This marks the beginning of a strategy the Lord has given us for 87 villages—villages we’ve helped during times of tragedy and pain.

Our approach is simple but powerful:

  • Visit a village
  • Install a hand pump
  • Host a celebration service with a meal for the entire community
  • Share the message of salvation and invite people to receive Christ
  • Assign a pastor from our network to follow up and shepherd the new believers

This week, seven motorcycles will be distributed to pastors who have not only helped adopt slave families in the past but continue to reach out to these villages.

Another highlight of the evening: former slaves joined us in reaching unreached peoples. What a testimony of redemption and purpose.

This is a great day of celebration for GRM. We give thanks to our mighty God for allowing us to see and hear such incredible things. We also thank our co-laborers—the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus on this earth—who empower us to continue reaching the last of the lost.

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news…” (Romans 10:15)
